What it is like to live here

Many people know Lara in Turkey from holidays. Living here means living inside a resort: hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, and in summer it is noisy and crowded (Life by Sea guide). It is popular with those who fly often and let their flat to tourists.

Lara in Antalya is the name of a coast, not of an ilçe. The urban part is the Güzeloba mahalle in Muratpasa, eastern Lara — Kundu — belongs to Aksu (Law No. 5747). So ask for the mahalle and a point on the map in a listing.

Lara beach is sand: there are no pebbles at Lara Halk Plajı 2 and RED&WHITE Beach (TÜRÇEV). The guide's advice — look for a home no more than a kilometre from the sandy beach, otherwise you will have to drive to the water.

Who it suits and who it doesn't

Suits

  • Those who want sand near home
  • Those who fly often
  • Those who want a resort rhythm

Won't suit

  • Those looking for quiet in summer
  • On a minimal budget
  • Those who want an old town

Voice of a resident

In summer Lara lives at a resort pace: crowded on the beach, noisy in the evenings. If quiet matters, look for a home deeper in the quarters and come to viewings at the height of the season.

Can you get a residence permit when buying here?

By law, housing from 200,000 USD is a basis for a residence permit of up to two years if you live in it and don't let it (Göç İdaresi); the migration service decides. At the guide's prices, new-build 2+1 flats pass the threshold.

What taxes does an owner pay when letting?

Rental income is taxed on a 15–40% scale; in 2026 the first 58,000 TL a year are exempt if the income is declared (GVK No. 193). A non-resident should check. Housing held for a residence permit is not let.
